National apple day has come back around again.
An ode to celebrate apples and a reminder of our British apple roots…excuse the pun.

National apple day was started to 1990 by Common Ground in a bid to save our orchards and promote british diversification of all species not just apples.
And I may be biased but it should be celebrated. Look what we do with this one humble fruit. We eat it fresh, we cook it in so many ways, we drink it in various different guises, we feed our pets with the fruit wood, we can use aromatic fruit wood chips for smoking food, we can make woodchip from prunings for carbon in our compost, and firewood from our fallen apple tree comrades.
I mean, is there another product out there used for so many different things?

Let alone the priority habitat an orchard can make.
National apple day has been a huge success and grown from 60 events in 1990 to what we know now and its growing more and more with events all around the UK.
It’s a great time to meet up, learn a new Apple based trick, try new varieties get handy tips, teach others or just enjoy an autumnal themed day out.
It’s usually on the 21st October every year but events happen through October.
